Set Up Your Classes

Get your rosters ready: create a class for each period and attach its course. It takes a couple of minutes, and you can add students by class code, bulk CSV import, or sync straight from Google Classroom, Clever, or ClassLink.

Choose Your Courses

Pick what you're teaching this year from Tynker's K–8 School plan. Courses are organized by grade and subject, so students can grow from picture-based icon coding all the way to Python, JavaScript, and Java.

The courses shown below are examples, not the only options. Explore each grade band to find more courses for your students.

Where students can learn

Tynker is available on the web, the Tynker app, and the Tynker Junior app, so students may access content differently depending on their devices. Filter the catalog by grade, subject, and device to see what’s available for your students.

Not sure where to start? These grade-band maps are flexible recommendation guides to help you choose a starting point. Here’s the Grades 3–5 map as an example.

How do I get my Tynker account ready for the new school year?
Work through five steps before day one: pick your courses from the K–8 catalog, create a class for each period, get the free starter courses and Hour of Code lessons ready for your first days, register for a free webinar, and take a fresh look at the platform's tools. Most teachers finish setup in well under an hour.
Do I need a paid plan to teach with Tynker?
No. A free account includes the Programming 100 and 300 starter courses, Hour of Code activities, and class creation. The K–8 School plan unlocks all 48 coding courses plus the STEM library, lesson plans, automatic grading and school progress metrics, standards alignment, and premium training and support. Request a quote to compare.
How do I create classes and add my students?
Create a class from your teacher dashboard, name it (for example "Period 3 Intro to Coding"), and attach the course you're teaching. Then share your class code so students can join at tynker.com/classcode with Google, Microsoft, or Clever logins — or sync your roster automatically through Google Classroom, Clever, or ClassLink. You can also bulk-import students with a CSV.
What courses can students take on the School plan?
The K–8 School plan spans 48 coding courses plus 12 STEM courses. Students start with picture-based Icon Coding (Pre-K–2), grow through block-based Programming 1A–302 in the elementary and middle grades, and move into text languages like Python 101, JavaScript 101, Web Development 101, Java 101, and Data Science. Robotics & AI courses — micro:bit, MicroPython, Augmented Reality, and Artificial Intelligence 101/401 — round out the catalog. Everything aligns to Common Core and NGSS.
Are the Tynker webinars really free?
Yes. Tynker runs free live webinars every week, including a beginner demo and a "Getting Started" training for paid schools, plus an on-demand video library. Many sessions set educators on the path to a free Level 1 Tynker Certified Educator credential. See the full schedule on the training page.
