Seeds are blocks used to grow Wheat . They can be obtained through the destruction of Tall Grass or when harvesting the wheat of a village's farm. The item seed is the wheat seed although it is still called "seeds" without any specification. Seeds can be planted in Farmland which is created when the player hoes a dirt block with a hoe . To make the wheat grow faster, the player can plant the seeds near water (within four blocks distance) to make hydrated farmland. Hydrated farmland can be identified with it being considerably darker than normal farmland and makes all seeds, not only wheat seeds, grow faster. As of 1.4.2 Seeds are used for getting Chickens to enter their "Love Mode" and for Chickens to follow the player.
