Week 1 Summer Code-A-Thon Challenge: Code a Summer Celebration!

The Summer Code-A-Thon is live, and already we’re seeing so much amazing creativity and coding from our maker community!

For week 1, we’re challenging kids to code a summer celebration! To get started, they can work through our PEEP: Dance with Friends tutorial, which teaches them how to create basic animations as they code their own summer dance party. In this tutorial, kids learn to use frame-based animation to code lovable characters Peep, Chirp, and Quack from the popular STEM-themed TV show PEEP and the Big Wide World.

More experienced coders can start from a blank template and create anything they want! Although kids can submit any project to the Summer Code-A-Thon, extra points will be given for using the theme.

The Summer Code-A-Thon is free and open to all! Just create a free parent-verified account to be eligible to win prizes. Please share this program with anyone who might be looking for ways to keep their kids engaged over the summer!
