Featured Maker: Daniel Likes to Play Soccer!

Meet our newest Featured Maker, 3rd grader Daniel from Connecticut! When he grows up, he wants to make cars. Cool! Daniel recently spoke with us about his experience coding with Tynker.

The Hot Wheels [Hour of Code activity].

How did you feel when you found out your coding project had been featured?

Good.

What’s your favorite coding project you’ve made so far?

The mini-game one. It has three mini-games in it. There’s a game where you catch watermelons, and there’s also a game that you drop but you can’t let go. And also a quiz.

How do you get inspiration for your projects?

Sometimes it’s just like code and create something.

Why do you like to code?

It’s fun.

What do you do with a project when you’re done with it?

Publish it.

What do you like about Tynker?

The tutorials and also the blocks.

Do you think other kids should try coding?

Yes, because it’s fun and entertaining.

What’s a fun fact about you?

I like to draw.

What do you like to draw?

Cars and stuff like that.

What’s your favorite type of car?

A pickup truck because they can go offroad really well.

Science because it involves chemistry and stuff like in physics.

Parent Questions

Daniel’s father, Viktor, spoke with us about his son learning to code with Tynker:

First of all, I see him having lots of fun. It’s definitely entertaining. It’s also educational because it helps you to expand your thinking and gives maybe another way for kids to think outside of the box. And, it’s a very good platform for kids to explore and learn by themselves. This is the best thing about it.

What benefits do you think coding has for Daniel?

I would say working more independently. Maybe, for some kids, it also teaches them to be patient because you need to keep trying many times if your code doesn’t work. And creativity. Besides technical skills, being creative is very helpful in life.

Do you feel that he’s better prepared for the future?

For certain things, absolutely, I would say that. Yes, it’s been very helpful.

Thank you!

We want to thank Daniel and his father for taking the time to speak with us about coding with Tynker. We can’t wait to see what he creates next – HAPPY CODING!
