Vishnu Brings His Imagination to Life with Coding!

Vishnu is a 10-year-old 4th grader who lives in Dallas, Texas. He likes to read, draw, and write! He told us that of all the books he’s read, his favorite is The Last Kid on Earth, because it’s “very interesting and appealing to me.” We’re really impressed by the projects Vishnu has created, so we asked him a few questions to find out why he loves to code!

What’s your favorite subject in school? Math! I like it because the creative questions, like word problems, are fun to answer.

What do you want to be when you grow up? When I grow up I want to be a video game designer! My favorite video game is Roblox.

How did you get introduced to Tynker? I was introduced to the Tynker app at school. I was just a beginner coder so I wasn’t that good at coding, but eventually I learned how to code better.

How did you figure out how to do things in Tynker? I learned from seeing other projects, and I tried to do the same – and then it worked!

How long have you been using Tynker? Since February of this year. I use it at home and school.

What is your favorite thing you’ve made? My Pokemon project, because it’s really fun and you get to make choices. My friends really love Pokemon, but I didn’t understand it. I don’t like Pokemon, but I just tried to make it for my friends.

Do you look at the Tynker community projects? Yeah, I like looking at the Tynker community. The projects are cool and I like watching or playing them!

What’s your favorite feature in Tynker? My favorite thing about Tynker is that it’s really fun to code the games. You get to test out your own games, and you can see other people’s projects, which is cool.

What are you planning to make next? I’m thinking of making a game where you can explore a place and talk to other people.

What do you do with a project when you’re done with it? I usually try to check it to make sure there aren’t any misunderstood codes, and then I publish it! Sometimes I check how many likes and views they get.

Why do you like to code? I like to code because it’s fun to code! You get to test out your game so it’s really interesting. Coding can bring your imagination to life! People like kids have a huge imagination, and with coding they can just bring it to life.

Do you think other kids should try coding? Yes, definitely! They could learn so much and have so much fun. They would have a blast, and their friends would too!

What advice would you give for kids starting out with Tynker? I would say that if you don’t know how to do something, ask someone! If they don’t know how to do it, try to figure it out – watch a tutorial, or find it out from other games.

Vishnu’s mom Gayathri has experience coding herself, so she thinks it’s great he is learning! She told us he learned how to use Tynker without any help from her, and that “He is not afraid to try anything. He is willing to explore and try new things – I am very proud of him.” Gayathri shares our belief that coding is applicable to many fields. She said, “I think coding can be used in any profession. it doesn’t matter what profession they choose – if he decides to become a doctor or an engineer, coding can be useful anywhere.”

Thank you for your time, Vishnu and Gayathri! We hope you continue coding, and we know it’ll help you no matter what you decide to be.
