What You'll Learn:
- Gain further fundamental knowledge of Python as you explore boolean logic, string manipulation, functions, lists, dictionaries, objects, and classes.
- Recreate tetris, chart US Energy data, draw fractals with recursion and explore object oriented programming with superheroes.
- Learn how to manipulate data using CSV files and create bar charts and pie charts with Pygal.
- Build confidence in your understanding of computer science topics and Python concepts.
Students with coding experience can skip ahead with a placement test.
Prerequisites: Python 1 or Test Placement recommended

How It Works:
Guided Learning
If you’ve never coded before, start with Level 1. Complete each Lesson — your progress will be saved as you advance through the Lesson Map.
Take a Placement Test
If the first few lessons seem too easy for you, go to Level 2 (or whichever level seems most appropriate given your experience). You’ll be prompted to complete a placement test. After completing it, you’ll be placed in the correct advanced Python programming level. As you advance, all lessons from previous levels will be unlocked, so that you can go back and explore exciting coding projects and challenges.
Note: Without successfully passing a placement test, you won’t be able to skip ahead. You can also complete all the lessons on the map to proceed to the next level.
Complete All Lessons
Level 5 has 48 coding lessons in 7 units. You should be able to finish each lesson in about 20-30 minutes, but you can complete them at your own pace. We recommend completing a lesson every day, but you can decide to go faster or slower. A routine of coding and learning can help anyone achieve success.
All Tynker Python concepts lessons are self-guided. Each interactive lesson includes concept introductions, coding puzzles, step-by-step tutorials, and assessments.
Earn a Certificate
At the end of each advanced Python programming unit, practice tests will help students prepare for the end-of-level assessments. By completing the Assessment Test with a score of 80% or higher, you’ll earn a certificate. A certificate is not required to continue to the next level. However, we recommend that students complete the level assessment and earn these credentials so that they can share their accomplishments with prospective colleges or employers.
