Tynker’s Web Dev Course Takes Coders From Consumers to Creators

Whether for business or pleasure, it seems like everyone wants or needs their own website these days. In fact, there are over 200 million active websites on the internet.

As a result, website development (or, web dev) is a rapidly growing sector in the tech industry. And since the ability to code is at the root of web dev, Tynker is focused on developing great courses to teach students how to build websites from scratch.

Web dev is a great skill for students to learn as more and more people access the web to buy, sell, and communicate with the world using their computers, tablets, and mobile phones.

A good website should elicit interest and trust in the presentation and choice of words, images, and video content. It can even play the role of a 21st century resume and portfolio, showcasing academic and career achievements.

Here are some examples of websites that young coders are making with Tynker.

Web Dev Course

Intro to Web Development: No Prerequisites – Ages 12+

In this course, students will learn how to make and host their own website using the two standard web languages — HyperText Markup Language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).

Students will gain an understanding of web design by creating responsive web pages. They’ll use basic elements to control page layout and style and then gradually expand their skills to build posters, a photo gallery, and even their own Instagram clone.

The course includes 10 modules containing multiple activities, tutorials, quizzes, and DIY projects to guide young coders while they will learn about headings and images, lists, hyperlinks, containers, tables and media, styling, pixel art, photo galleries, and pictograms.

“My 8-year-old son just completed the Tynker programming course. It was a fantastic learning experience for him… Keep up the good work!”

—Brian Perron, Ph.D./Parent from Ann Arbor, MI
