Featured Maker: Talha Wants to Be Part of the Tynker Team!

Meet our newest Featured Maker, 7th grader Talha from the UK! Outside of school, he likes programming, swimming, and archery. Awesome! Talha recently spoke with us about his experience coding with Tynker.

Do you have an idea of what you want to be when you grow up?

I think being on the Tynker team.

That’s a first. That’s amazing. What’s your favorite subject in school?

My favorite subject in school is math because it’s all about logic, and it’s very useful in life.

How did you get introduced to coding with Tynker?

My big brother introduced me to Tynker, and I’ve been programming for three years.

And you’re already a featured maker, congratulations. How did you learn to use Tynker?

I just learned by myself, figuring out what the blocks do.

Have your coding skills improved since you started with Tynker?

Well, I just prove a lot.

How did you feel when you found out your coding project had been featured?

I was really happy.

What’s your favorite project you’ve made so far?

My favorite project is when there’s a firework that explodes and I do some art.

How do you get inspiration for your coding projects?

I search on YouTube for ideas, then I try to remake it.

Do you look at the community sometimes?

Yes, you see what others have created.

Why do you like to code?

Because it’s just about logic, and it’s just very useful.

Absolutely. What’s your favorite way to use code?

Probably the broadcast blocks. And I’m also trying to use it in Python.

What do you do with a coding project when you’re done with it?

I show it sometimes to my brother and other people.

What are you planning to make next?

I’m planning to make a platformer game.

That sounds like a lot of fun. So what’s the best thing about Tynker?

That there’s a lot of tutorials. They have a list of useful blocks. And I think the best thing is that I can also code Python and JavaScript.

Do you think other kids should try coding?

Well, lots of kids really need to program because it’s very fun and useful and creative.

Yeah, absolutely. What advice would you give to kids starting with Tynker?

I think starting with the simple tutorial.

Parent Questions

Talha’s father, Abed, spoke with us about his son coding with Tynker:

I think it’s great. I know that programming is something very important. I can see that generation jump on coding. I love Tynker because they push the children to build something algorithmic. So that’s fantastic.

Do you feel that he’s better prepared for the future?

So as long as he’s having fun and developing his skills in all these areas, it’s fine. He’s in university computer science, building a lot more in the area of automation so that’s something interesting to see.

We want to thank Talha and his father for taking the time to speak with us about coding with Tynker. We can’t wait to see what he creates next – HAPPY CODING!
