And over 90% of American parents want programming added to their child\u2019s curriculum.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/tech\/2015\/08\/20\/google-gallup-poll-finds-parents-want-computer-science-education-but-administrators-arent-sure\/31991889\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00b9<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In today\u2019s digital world, coding is a fundamental skill alongside math and reading, but too few kids have the opportunity to learn to program because it is rarely taught in school.<\/p>\n<p>Tynker\u2019s mission is to create a fun and engaging platform where children not only learn to program, but also have opportunities to be creative using code.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Heres_why_learning_to_code_is_so_important_for_children\"><\/span>Here\u2019s why learning to code is so important for children:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b><\/b><b>Coding drives innovation<\/b>. From self-driving cars to robot-assisted surgery to social media, computer science is revolutionizing every aspect of our lives. Coding is a fundamental skill that children need to learn so they can lead this movement.<\/li>\n<li><b><\/b><b>Coding allows kids to be creative<\/b>. They can create projects that do really amazing things.<\/li>\n<li><b><\/b><b>Coding builds confidence<\/b>. It is incredibly empowering for children to be able to create projects and show them off to family and friends.<\/li>\n<li><b><\/b><b>Coding is best learned early<\/b>. Learning to code is similar to learning a second language. The earlier that children are exposed to fundamental topics like sequencing, loops, and conditionals, the more deeply they absorb these concepts.<\/li>\n<li><b><\/b><b>Coding translates to success in other areas<\/b>. Learning to program supports learning in other areas, like math, reading, and science.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Tynker_makes_it_easy_and_fun_for_children_to_code\"><\/span>Tynker makes it easy and fun for children to code<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>When children jump straight into a traditional programming language like Python or Javascript, they get bored and discouraged.
