Meet our newest Featured Makers, Jackson and Jacob from California! These best friends love to code and play piano. Their favorite subject is Math. They coded a team for the Coding Cup, and got their team on the leaderboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jacob: <\/strong>Because it’s fun, and then you get to code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jacob: <\/strong>Not that long. Actually, all we had to do was get good, and we noticed that we were doing so well, so we checked the code and we saw it was just the basic code that we got in the training. So we were going to make it better\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jackson: <\/strong>And we fixed it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jacob: <\/strong>If -Then- Else<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jackson: <\/strong>I like that one too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jacob: <\/strong>Because it’s fun and\u00ad\u00ad\u2013<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jackson: <\/strong>You can learn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jacob: <\/strong>Our teacher at Makerspace. At Makerspace, we do like making projects and we also do like coding, and so she introduced us to Coding Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jacob: <\/strong>We used the basic training, and our teacher taught us a little.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jackson: <\/strong>How to use the blocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jacob: <\/strong>Because if we choose our career to be coding, that could help us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jackson: <\/strong>Yes<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jacob: <\/strong>It’s fun, and you learn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jacob: <\/strong>To check out some of the training sessions to get some good skills\u00ad\u00ad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jackson:<\/strong> To understand how to use the blocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s exciting. I love that they not only learned a new skill but collaborated on this project with the outcome of winning an award. Great teamwork boys! <\/p>\n\n\n\n I think it enhances his creativity as well as his logistic thinking. It also teaches problem-solving. If there is an error in the code it needs to be resolved. Problem-solving is a crucial skill in the workforce and is a core value at our firm, Presidio Capital Management. If you can’t effectively problem solve, we won’t hire you. Lastly, it’s taught him discipline. He spent the majority of his winter break from school to work on this project to meet the deadline in order to qualify. <\/p>\n\n\n\n 100%.
