Meet our newest Featured Maker, 3rd grader Thoriq from Indonesia! His favorite subject in school is math. And when he grows up, he would like to make video games. Awesome! <\/strong>Thoriq recently spoke with us about his experience coding with Tynker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How did you get introduced to Tynker?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My mom told me what Tynker was so I started coding in Tynker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s fantastic. So how long have you been using Tynker?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve used Tynker for three years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you look at the Tynker community projects?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, I like to play games in the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Very nice. What are you planning to make next?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ll finish the project that I am working on right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That sounds good. Have your coding skills improved since you started using Tynker?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tynker makes it easier for me to code and helps me finish my projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How did you feel when you found out your project had been featured?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m happy that I can finish it because the project I made is hard. And I got a lot of likes because I like to get likes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yeah, absolutely. Why do you like to code?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because it’s fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do you get inspiration for your projects?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I get a half inspiration from the community and a half inspiration from my mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you have a favorite code block?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I think the glide block.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you do with a project when you’re done with it?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I will publish it so I can get likes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s the best thing about Tynker?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tynker makes it easier to code. And it helps me make an idea for a new project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can create great games?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes and play games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you think learning to code has prepared you for the future?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tynker helps me be ready for the future so I can be better at coding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For sure. Do you think that other kids should try coding? Why is that?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because Tynker is fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thoriq\u2019s mother, Sarah, spoke with us about her son learning to code with Tynker:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m really happy because I introduced him to Tynker when I was doing my PhD because I work a lot with coding, and so I thought that kids now need to know coding because in the future\u00ad\u00ad everything will be about coding. So I introduced Thoriq to code with Tynker. So I think he’s great because like two years ago he got second place for a competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s fantastic. What benefits do you think coding has for him?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I think the logic. I mean, he has the logic first, but then when he starts Tynker, I think his logic skills improved. So yeah, that’s why I think he’s also good at math. So I think math and coding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you feel that he\u2019s better prepared for the future?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yeah, of course. I think when I asked him last time, “What do you want to be in the future,” he answered, “I want to be a data scientist,” but now he wants to be a game maker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you think of Tynker?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yeah, it’s user-friendly. Tynker really makes it easy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, those are all my questions for you. You guys did fantastic. It was such a pleasure to meet you both.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
