Let\u2019s get comfortable with the absolute basics of Tynker. In this coding for beginners tutorial, you\u2019ll learn how to move Actors on the Stage using code blocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After logging in at tynker.com<\/a>, you\u2019ll see your Dashboard. First click Projects<\/strong>, then +Create a New Project<\/strong>. You\u2019ll see links to all sorts of exciting computer programming basics templates: From here you can create a Minecraft Mod, code a Music project, or write a Python script using free coding tutorials. But let\u2019s start by making a new block coding project. Click Blank Block Project <\/strong>to follow along.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now the Tynker Workshop will appear. You\u2019ll see a little blue monster and some code on the screen, something like this: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s look at some important sections of the Tynker Workshop:

\u2776 This is the Stage<\/strong>. You can see Codey, the blue monster, on the Stage for now. Whatever you program, the Stage is where the action happens. You can position Actors on the Stage by clicking and dragging them. And you can start and stop the action using the Play \u25b6\ufe0f and Stop \ud83d\uded1 buttons.

\u2777 This is the Code Palette<\/strong>. Blocks are grouped together according to what they do (for example, Sound, Motion, Logic, and so on). To find the block you need fast, you can Search using \ud83d\udd0d. 
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2778 This is the Coding Area<\/strong>, where you drag and drop code blocks from the Palette for your Actors. Connect a stack of code blocks together to write your own programs. 
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2779 This is the Actors List<\/strong>. In Tynker, every object and character is an Actor<\/em><\/strong>. From the Actor List, you can click Add Actor<\/strong> to add new characters and props. To switch between Actors and add new costumes or sound effects to Actors, just click their names in the Actors List. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
