As her favorite subjects in school are math and art, that sounds like a great career combination! Fun fact: Aleysa knows how to do Muay Thai, also known as Thai boxing! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We caught up with Alesya and her mom Azahah to learn more about how Alesya uses coding as a creative medium and a way to express herself!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How did you get introduced to coding? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I started coding a couple years ago, probably 2016. I don\u2019t remember when I got introduced to Tynker.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How did you learn how to use Tynker when you were first starting out? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I learned how to code by looking at other projects on the community board!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How have your coding skills improved since you started using Tynker? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Much better.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How did you feel when you found out your project had been featured? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I got excited! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What is your favorite project you\u2019ve made so far? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My favorite project is about dress up! You dress up a kid and I like all the different outfits I made.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<!-- iframe plugin v.5.1 wordpress.org\/plugins\/iframe\/ -->\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"\/ide\/embedded?p=5b9d462fc762c128a017861b&#038;controls=yes&#038;autostart=no\" height=\"350\" width=\"100%\" class=\"iframe-class\"><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>&#8220;Girl dress up (original)&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><b>Where did you get the idea for your favorite project? How long did it take you to make?<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> I was looking at some other projects and I wanted to do something similar! It took me about 2 days.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How do you get inspiration for your projects? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I come up with the ideas on my own for some projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What do you do with a project when you\u2019re done with it? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I look to see if there\u2019s a mistake and then I show my parents and then publish it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What are you planning to make next? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019m working on one project, it\u2019s like an iPad! Like a simulator!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What\u2019s the best thing about Tynker?<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The best thing about Tynker is how the community can see everyone else\u2019s projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Do you think other kids should try coding? Why\u2019s that? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yes! Because coding can be really fun when you think about it!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alesya\u2019s<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">mom Azahah is a researcher who regularly uses coding to do a lot of data analysis and assessment. She told us that she was excited when she found out that Alesya was also learning how to code! \u201cAt first when she started to share with me that she is coding, I was like, \u2018Wow,\u2019 because I\u2019m a researcher, so I code a lot of qualitative and quantitative data, so I said, \u2018How do you know how to do coding?\u2019 So, she showed me Tynker and I said, \u2018Ohh wow,\u2019 so I started to read more about the importance of coding for children now, which is totally different than five to ten years ago, like all kids know how to do coding know. So, I\u2019m excited that she\u2019s also doing that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Azahah explained that Tynker functions as a creative outlet for Alesya: \u201cOne of her career options is to become an animator, so using Tynker she can explore more about her drawing skills, her narrative skills, because she\u2019s a little shy to talk, but using Tynker, she can use it as a platform for us to engage in conversation and to share projects with her friends and just to be friendlier, so that\u2019s how Tynker can help her.\u201d Not only does coding help Alesya express herself, but it\u2019s also a great way for her to prepare to make career choices, as Azahah told us: \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I think this skill can be applied to many fields, especially STEM fields, technology, and engineering&#8230;Five years ago, people didn\u2019t think that this was important, but I think this skill is important. It is one of the skills that can prepare her or other kids for their entire future.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We couldn\u2019t agree more!
