Outside of school Jarryd likes to code, and when he grows up he want to be a coder. His favorite subjects in school are robotics and (no surprise here) coding!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jarryd excels at math; he\u2019s three years ahead of his grade, an advantage that Jarryd\u2019s dad Brenden attributes to learning how to code. Jarryd loves to code games with his brothers, and his dad is excited that Jarryd can practice coding in a safe online environment like Tynker. We caught up with Jarryd to learn more about his coding experience!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How did you get introduced to Tynker? \u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Well, I have this IT group at my school that sends us a bunch of apps that are from my school and one of them is Tynker. I\u2019ve been coding for about 4 or 5 months.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How did you learn how to use Tynker when you were first starting out? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I had a little help with some of my friends. I used a lot of Tynker courses and tutorials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How did you feel when you found out your project had been featured? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Out of this world! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What is your favorite project you\u2019ve made so far? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A project on my iPad that I named Riddle Game. It\u2019s my most popular game!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Where do you get the idea for Riddle Game? How long did it take you to make? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I don\u2019t know where I got the idea from! Do you have a favorite code block? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My favorite code block is<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AR and I like to make projects that use math!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<!-- iframe plugin v.5.1 wordpress.org\/plugins\/iframe\/ -->\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"\/ide\/embedded?p=5b84e435ca7e9f0c1c6cf9bb&#038;controls=yes&#038;autostart=no\" height=\"350\" width=\"100%\" class=\"iframe-class\"><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>&#8220;AR Coding with Jarryd&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><b>What do you do with a project when you\u2019re done with it? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I edit it just in case I have anything bad in it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What\u2019s the best thing about Tynker? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I do like some of the projects a lot.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Do you think other kids should try coding? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yeah. Coding is important! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What advice would you give to kids starting out with Tynker? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AR, math, Pokemon games! Start with those!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jarryd\u2019s dad Brenden gave us some insight into what learning to code has been like for Jarryd. He says it started with the opportunities that Jarryd\u2019s school offers: \u201cHe\u2019s privileged enough to go to a school where they offer coding as a co-curricular, together with robotics.\u201d One thing that Brenden really likes about Tynker is the digital environment it provides, where kids can practice coding without worrying about their online safety. \u00a0As he explained, \u201cIt\u2019s important from my side as a dad to make sure that it\u2019s clean, that it\u2019s harmless! And that\u2019s why I appreciate Tynker, because they would scan everything, it\u2019s not that they\u2019re going to allow the kids to go into other things and become preyed victims, on a portal where they can mix with loads of people.\u201d Not only does Tynker provide that safe environment that every child deserves, but it\u2019s also an environment that fosters positivity. Brenden told us that Jarryd thrives on seeing other users\u2019 likes and the number of views he gets on a project. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When we asked Jarryd\u2019s dad if he thought coding is helping prepare Jarryd for the future, Brenden responded enthusiastically! \u201cOh, absolutely! We support him in loving it and he\u2019s free to use the wifi at home and code as long as he wants and publish!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019re so excited to hear that!
