He\u2019s ten years old and<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> loves to play sports like soccer and basketball \u2013 in fact, he plays on a soccer team!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When he\u2019s not in school or on the field, James busy preparing to be an astronaut. It\u2019s really fun to do experiments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How did you feel when you found out your project had been featured? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I felt really excited!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How did you get introduced to Tynker? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have a rotation that we do every Tuesday at school and coding is one of the subjects. Coding is something we do at school, but sometimes I play at home.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How long have you been coding? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Not very long, a year or less.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How did you learn how to use Tynker when you were first starting out? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I learned from my friends!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How do you get inspiration for your projects? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I normally get inspiration for my projects from things I like to do. I like to study about space so that\u2019s why I created that project.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How do you use your creativity when you code? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I use my creativity by doing drawings and weird things!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Why do you like to code? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I think it\u2019s really fun, and there are so many different things you can make.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What is your favorite project you\u2019ve made so far? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I really liked making Space Mania.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<!-- iframe plugin v.6.0 wordpress.org\/plugins\/iframe\/ -->\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"\/ide\/embedded?p=5a66ae561c36d1e77d8b4577&#038;controls=yes&#038;autostart=no\" height=\"350\" width=\"100%\" class=\"iframe-class\"><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>&#8220;Space Mania&#8221;<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>Is there anything you\u2019re planning to make next or currently working on? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Right now I\u2019m working on Space Lesson, where you select the planet and it\u2019ll give you a short quiz!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What do you do with a project when you\u2019re done with it? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sometimes I publish them, sometimes I keep them and don\u2019t publish them. I show them to my friends and family.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What\u2019s your favorite feature in Tynker? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I like the views and likes section.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Do you ever Tynker with your friends? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yeah, I normally do that after school.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Do you look at the Tynker community projects? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yes, they\u2019re all different!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How do you think learning coding now might help you in the future? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I think it could help me design stuff. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Do you think other kids should try coding? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I think it\u2019s really fun, and it\u2019s an experience everyone should try.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What advice would you give for kids starting out with Tynker? <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Try out what they know already, and then just experiment!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">James\u2019s dad Mike says that he and James\u2019s mother love Tynker because \u201cit gives him an opportunity to really use his brain. He has to be nice and calm and sit there on his iPad and really focus on the task at hand.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We were thrilled to hear about how James\u2019s friends code together! Mike told us a bit about it, saying, \u201cWhat\u2019s really cool is that a lot of his friends at school enjoy it. They\u2019ll sit around a little picnic table outside of their class and get together and start coding!\u201d He noted that they motivate each other, and told us, \u201cIt\u2019s neat \u2013 when they achieve a certain level with their coding effort on Tynker, they\u2019ll show that accomplishment to their friends.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">James agreed with his dad when he said, \u201cThe friends are very supportive of each other in their efforts to create something, so he gets a significant amount of support from his friends and that\u2019s what motivates him.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It sounds like James has a lot of people rooting for him and his coding skills! When asked how he supports James in his coding endeavors, he told us, \u201cHe\u2019s really taken it on his own and he\u2019s running with it! We allow him time on it on a consistent basis, on a daily basis. We\u2019re always checking in with him as to his progress and throwing in our two cents whenever he asks for it, but he gets a lot of support from family and friends.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What skills does learning to code build? James believes that the most prominent one is problem-solving! According to Mike, \u201cGetting into the problem and really thinking it through to a conclusion \u2013 whether they are successful or they need to try something different to achieve whatever results they\u2019re trying to get.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thanks for speaking with us, James and Mike!
