At the school Featured Maker Mathis attends in Montreal, kids get to select a major when they move to Secondary School. Mathis chose CREATIC, a fascinating fusion of programming, robotics, computers and electronics.Mathis lives in Montreal, Canada, and loves reading, playing video games, and going on walks. He\u2019s only twelve years old but already has big goals \u2013 he wants to be a computer programmer or video game designer when he grows up!<\/span><\/p>\n From what we heard from his mother Myriam, Tynker has had a really positive impact on Mathis! She told us, \u201cTynker gives him a sense of control and self-accomplishment. It also gives him an opportunity to create a game by himself from scratch to the final result.\u201d We\u2019ve been really impressed with the quality of Mathis\u2019s projects, and we were lucky enough to chat with him about what inspires him to code and why he loves it.<\/span><\/p>\n What\u2019s your favorite subject in school?<\/b> My favorite class is called CREATIC, it’s a programming class at my level. We study programming, robotics, and the creation of objects in 3D through programming applications and a 3D drawing software. We’ve even had a Fab Lab at school since October!<\/span><\/p>\n How did you feel when you found out your project had been featured? <\/b>I was very happy, proud, and excited.<\/span><\/p>\n How did you get introduced to coding\/Tynker? <\/b>By my CREATIC class teacher.<\/span><\/p>\n How did you learn how to use Tynker?<\/b> In my CREATIC class, the teacher gives us exercises to learn how to code.<\/span><\/p>\n Have you played through any Tynker courses? <\/b>Yes, during the lunch break at the Fab Lab at school.<\/span><\/p>\n How do you get inspiration for your projects? <\/b>I get my inspiration through the existing games in the community and through my own ideas.<\/span><\/p>\n \n\n
