A whole lot of fun \u2013 and loads of teaching, sharing, and supporting!<\/p>\n<p>When asked about their favorite Tynker feature, kids list things like the ease of coding with blocks, the ability to draw, and \u2013 almost unanimously \u2013 the Tynker community!<\/p>\n<p>We are so excited by the way the Tynker community has taken off. We provide the framework and support for the community, but all the trends, ideas, and teaching happening in the community is self-perpetuated. It\u2019s constantly changing and improving, but one thing stays constant: it\u2019s always inspiring! Featured Maker Scout said it best:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><em>\u201cI like how when you look at the Tynker community there are so many projects that are all so different, but they\u2019re all made with the same software. You look at the code and there\u2019s just so many opportunities for what you can make \u2013 it\u2019s proof that everyone can come up with a different thing. From the same building blocks, you can make all the ideas that you have!\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"1_They_Teach_Each_Other\"><\/span>1. They Teach Each Other!<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Not only does the Tynker community motivate and inspire kids to code, but it also helps them learn! When we ask kids how they learned to use Tynker, they always cite the Tynker community. Kids, like Featured Maker Mark, look at the code in community projects in order to learn how to code elements of their own games or projects in Tynker.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m trying to figure make a joystick instead of the button system that I have,\u201d Mark said, \u201cbut I haven\u2019t figured out how to do that yet. I\u2019ve been looking at other projects to try to figure out how to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve also noticed kids making \u201cHow to Use Tynker\u201d tutorials as projects in Tynker, teaching other kids how to do things like code <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tynker.com\/ide\/embedded?p=59a9b4d91c36d1a10d8b481e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">variables<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, make <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tynker.com\/ide\/embedded?p=591772f1bb209dc01b8b4567\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">objects<\/a><\/strong><\/span> appear and disappear, and <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tynker.com\/ide\/embedded?p=598f886b1c36d1670c8b4569\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">animate<\/a><\/strong><\/span> projects. In fact, one maker creates projects to give other users <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tynker.com\/ide\/embedded?p=597c7c425ae0297a3b8b4571\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tips for using Tynker<\/a><\/strong><\/span> and speaks about the<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tynker.com\/ide\/embedded?p=593da51c76f2935e0d8b4577\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">importance of coding<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in general!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<!-- iframe plugin v.6.0 wordpress.org\/plugins\/iframe\/ -->\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"\/ide\/embedded?p=598f886b1c36d1670c8b4569&#038;controls=yes&#038;autostart=no\" height=\"350\" width=\"100%\" class=\"iframe-class\"><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>Animation is really popular in the Tynker community \u2013 this user explains how it&#8217;s done!<\/i><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_They_Share_Ideas\"><\/span>2. They Share Ideas!<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Using Tynker\u2019s tools, kids have embraced the ability to truly create anything in their imagination! As one user, <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tynker.com\/blog\/video-games-inspire-eliot-to-create-his-own\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eliot<\/a><\/span><\/strong>, said, \u201cWhatever comes out of your imagination, you can create it using the Tynker programming!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Even with the ability to make anything, we sometimes see similarities arise; for example, lately, lots of kids have been making pet and dress up projects \u2013 \u201ccustomization\u201d projects. Some impressive takes on this trend are this <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tynker.com\/ide\/embedded?p=59ad80ff76f2934a648b4567\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">customizable butterfly<\/a><\/strong>, this <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tynker.com\/ide\/embedded?p=59a2b7db5ae0293f658b4567\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">customizable closet<\/a><\/strong><\/span> full of amazing art, and a cool <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tynker.com\/ide\/embedded?p=589a478d949b56952f8b4592\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">customizable car<\/a><\/strong><\/span>. Kids are paying attention to what others are doing while still maintaining their individuality!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<!-- iframe plugin v.6.0 wordpress.org\/plugins\/iframe\/ -->\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"\/ide\/embedded?p=58dc25db1c36d1973c8b457c&#038;controls=yes&#038;autostart=no\" height=\"350\" width=\"100%\" class=\"iframe-class\"><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>This funny project is a mix between customization and animation, another popular trend!<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Kids use Tynker to share what\u2019s on their mind, teach others skills (like how to draw a <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tynker.com\/ide\/embedded?p=59a8372a76f293ee5d8b456a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">turtle<\/a><\/strong><\/span>!) make games to share, and even create educational math activities. Featured Maker <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tynker.com\/blog\/tynker-helps-yaamini-spread-her-message\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yaamini\u2019s<\/a><\/strong><\/span> father Guru echoed this idea, telling us that he thinks Tynker is a \u201cfantastic platform\u201d for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tynker.com\/\">kids to learn coding<\/a> on because it\u2019s \u201cnot just coding, but it\u2019s also giving them an opportunity to learn other topics, and share what they know about other topics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019ve really taken to this idea \u2013 it\u2019s so inspiring to see that when given freedom to make whatever they want, many kids opt to educate about the environment or spread messages of respect. A few months ago, one maker started a trend around projects about <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tynker.com\/blog\/unprompted-makers-use-tynker-to-talk-about-respect\/\">respect<\/a> <\/strong>and encouraging others to be more kind. Kids <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tynker.com\/ide\/embedded?p=593dd9b61c36d193318b4573\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">caught on<\/a><\/strong><\/span> quickly!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<!-- iframe plugin v.6.0 wordpress.org\/plugins\/iframe\/ -->\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"\/ide\/embedded?p=590a376b76f29374158b45bc&#038;controls=yes&#038;autostart=no\" height=\"350\" width=\"100%\" class=\"iframe-class\"><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>&#8220;How Bullying Affects Someone&#8217;s Heart&#8221; is a touching project condemning bullying.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_They_Support_Each_Other\"><\/span>3. They Support Each Other!<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>After kids\u2019 submitted projects are approved and published, they garner likes and views from other users! The praise kids get from their peers is exciting and validating. One user\u2019s parent put it perfectly, saying, \u201cWhen she posted her first coded game, she was amazed by the number of views she garnered within a few days and over a week. She couldn&#8217;t believe that her game was that popular, and the view of her first game encouraged her to continue coding other games.\u201d Ange, one mother, told us \u201cI think it really gives <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tynker.com\/blog\/vivian-gets-inspiration-for-projects-from-her-favorite-books\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vivian<\/a><\/strong><\/span> the confidence whenever she sees a \u2018like\u2019 on her project and motivates her to create more!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A love for coding and a common understanding of the difficulties it often poses bonds the community together! They\u2019ve all experienced the satisfaction of solving a complicated problem and the frustrations along the way. As one user told us, \u201cAlmost everyone on Tyner has made their own program, so I think that people kind of appreciate everyone else&#8217;s hard work more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nearly every user we\u2019ve spoken to has mentioned seeking inspiration for projects (and finding it!) from the Tynker community. We\u2019ve noticed kids giving \u201cshout-outs\u201d to each other in their projects, and kids are always remixing one another\u2019s projects.
