Clever, one of the most popular platforms for managing technology access in the classroom, makes it easy to connect student information systems (SIS) with learning apps. Classroom apps are auto-rostered for district administrators, kept up-to-date for classrooms, and students access all apps with a single login. Clever\u2019s full integration with Tynker makes it easier to teach Computer Science in the classroom!<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Who_can_use_this_solution\"><\/span>Who can use this solution?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If your district uses Clever and has enabled Tynker, you can start using this solution immediately!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Teachers<\/strong> &#8211; <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select Tynker from your portal, and you will be prompted to set up your classroom on the first launch. All your students will be automatically added to Tynker, and then you can assign Tynker lessons to your students.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Students<\/strong> &#8211; <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select Tynker from your portal, and access your Tynker dashboard and teacher-assigned lessons.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Administrators<\/strong> &#8211; <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Enable Tynker in your dashboard, and allow data sharing so that your students and teachers can access Tynker.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Setup_Instructions\"><\/span>Setup Instructions<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All schools, whether you use our free or premium version, can enjoy Clever Secure Sync with Tynker.\u00a0 If you do not see Tynker in your Clever portal, please ask your district administrator who handles Clever and the SIS to enable Tynker for your district. Here\u2019s the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/clever.com\/signup\/tynker\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">link<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Launch Tynker<\/strong> &#8211; Click on the Tynker icon in your Clever Portal to sign into Tynker.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click the orange <\/span><b>Create a New Classroom <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">button if you are adding your first classroom or the <\/span><b>Add Class<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> button if you want to add an additional Clever class.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-31944 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.tynker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/20221216120423\/Screen-Shot-2022-12-16-at-3.04.10-PM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"628\" height=\"302\" \/><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tynker will automatically detect if you have a Clever Classroom. Simply click the <\/span><b>Clever Classroom button<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-31957  aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.tynker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/20221216131103\/Screen-Shot-2022-12-16-at-4.10.51-PM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"648\" height=\"334\" \/><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select the class you want to import to Tynker from the drop-down menu, choose the grade band, and click <\/span><b>Link Classroom<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. All the students will be imported immediately.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-31958 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.tynker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/20221216131259\/Screen-Shot-2022-12-16-at-4.12.46-PM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"695\" height=\"358\" \/><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Assign your first coding lesson to this classroom from the \u201c<\/span><b>Lessons<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d tab.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>More classrooms?<\/strong> Repeat steps 2-3 for all sections that you want to import into Tynker using the \u201cNew Classroom\u201d button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Troubleshooting_FAQ\"><\/span>Troubleshooting FAQ<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><b>How does Tynker sync with Clever?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tynker imports data from your students\u2019 roster nightly using <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/clever.com\/products\/secure-sync\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clever Secure Sync<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>I made a change in my SIS, and I do not see it in Tynker.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When a new teacher or class is added to Clever, the new teacher or section is available in Tynker the following day. If there are changes to existing class section rosters or brand new students, as long as those changes are reflected in your SIS, they will be shared with Clever and then reflected in Tynker the following day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>I made a change in my SIS, and the data is not showing up in Clever.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you do NOT see the change when browsing your data in Clever, please check your SIS to ensure it\u2019s updated. If you see the change in your SIS but not in Clever, please contact <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/support.clever.com\/hc\/en-us\/requests\/new\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clever Support<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for help. If you see the change in your SIS and in Clever but not in Tynker, please email support@tynker.com for help.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Can I add more classrooms in Tynker?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We do not recommend that teachers manually add or delete classrooms in Tynker. Instead, if your SIS adds the class, you should automatically see the class in Tynker, by the following day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How secure is my data?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">School districts maintain full ownership and control over their data, and Clever helps schools maintain their FERPA obligations.
