Deer Valley USD Teacher Shines as Phoenix Moves Forward with STEM

Sujata Kumar is currently a middle school science and STEM teacher at Anthem School in Deer Valley Unified School District in Phoenix, AZ. She was very excited when Anthem was informed that they were chosen as one of the pilot schools for coding. Sujata doesn’t have a ton of coding experience but is very aware of the importance coding in our lives. She shares her excitement about Tynker below:

I enjoy being part of the excitement when students code. This is our school’s first year with coding, and I have always been a proponent of encouraging kids to start coding early. Students start with some frustration, but very soon they enjoy the challenges and begin to learn from each other.

With Tynker, students are more open to challenges and take pride in sharing what they learned.

“Tynker has done an incredible job by creating fun and educational lessons for all levels.”

Computer Science should be an integral part of school curriculum, and Tynker has done an incredible job of creating fun and educational lessons for all levels. I like that the lessons are self paced and cater to students with varied interests.

Tynker makes the difference in our school, by bringing computer awareness at an early age, so students are not intimidated by computer classes in high school and college.
