Mathew Codes for Other People!

Mathew Codes for Other People!

Hailing from Tustin, California, 6th grader Mathew has hobbies galore! He loves to sing, draw, play video games, and “create stuff for people to enjoy.” That’s why he loves Tynker – he gets to use his creativity to create games for people to enjoy!

Mathew is very creative, and when he grows up he wants to “leave a mark on the world, probably by being a singer, actor, or game maker.” He’s only been coding for five months but has already created some really impressive projects, so we chatted with him to find out more about him and why he loves to code!

How did you feel when you found out your project had been featured? I felt surprised! Early in the morning at school I opened my iPad and checked it, but I was offline so I could not see how many likes and views it had. But when I opened it in class, I saw how much people liked it!

“Meglomaniac Fight”  Check out more of Mathew’s projects here!

How did you get introduced to Tynker? I was introduced to coding when I saw some people using Tynker in school.

How did you learn how to use Tynker when you were first starting out? I taught myself how to code.

How do you get inspiration for your projects? I look at other games for inspiration!

How do you use your creativity when you code? I use my creativity with code by making remixes of an idea of a game!

Why do you like to code? I like to code because it allows me to make stuff for people to enjoy!

What is your favorite project you’ve made so far? I like my pizza simulator because it has good animations.

What do you do with a project when you’re done with it? I publish the projects I am done with, but I usually never finish them.

What’s your favorite feature in Tynker? My favorite feature in Tynker is the publish feature, because it allows you to let others see your creations.

Mathew’s mom Rosalynn is “happy that he was able to create a game of his own and amazed by what he can do!” She is excited that “he can do coding by himself and he taught himself with your system Tynker.” According to her, “Tynker is a very good start for kids’ futures. It helps them think creatively, and it helps them think of they would want to become in the future. Tynker inspired Mathew to create a game of his own.”

Rosalynn believes that “It is important for kids to understand how their games are being created and that they can also do it. It helps them to be creative. It helps the kids think creatively. It helps them solve problems.”

Thanks for chatting with us, Mathew and Rosalynn! We can’t wait to see what you dream up next, Mathew. Happy coding!
