Featured Maker: Sael Likes To Write Books!

Meet our newest Featured Maker, 6th grader Sael from Canada! His favorite subject in school is writing because he likes to write books. In fact, he’s released his first books and is writing a bunch of other books too. Awesome! Sael recently spoke with us about his experience coding with Tynker.

How long have you been coding?

I’ve been coding since the beginning of 5th grade.

How did you learn to use Tynker?

I just worked harder, and I started seeing other people’s projects to get ideas.

How did you feel when you found out your project had been featured?

I felt really happy.

What’s your favorite project you’ve made so far?

I made a project of knights fighting underwater. The creativity is great, and it has an interesting story.

How do you get inspiration for your projects?

I look at other people’s projects, or I just use my imagination.

Why do you like to code?

I like to code because I found out later in life I can use coding to build stuff and solve real-world problems.

What’s your favorite way to use code?

Switch to costume and wait because most of the time I make games.

What do you do with a project when you’re done with it?

I publish it.

What are you planning to make next?

I have characters that are running, and they’re going to save the world!

What’s the best thing about Tynker?

It features Minecraft.

How do you think learning to code has prepared you for the future?

If there is ever a real-world problem, I can use Tynker to help me solve it.

Do you think other kids should try coding?

Yes, because it’s very inspirational and it helps out in the future.

What advice would you give to kids starting out with Tynker?

If you code, in the future you can use coding to solve real-world problems.

What do you like to do outside of school?

I usually played with friends. I sometimes play basketball.

Any idea of what you want to be when you grow up?

I want to be the creator of a television show for kids and teenagers.

Bonus: What’s a fun fact about you?

Well, in school, I’m really nice. And I help out a lot.

Parent Questions

Sael’s mother, Nepha, spoke with us about how it feels to have her son coding with Tynker:

Fantastic. We’re glad that he found something that he really likes.

What benefits do you think coding has for Sael?

I don’t really know anything about coding, but my husband told me that he can use it for everything in life. Like writing, he really likes to write and wants to be a TV show producer. You can use it for that.

Do you feel that he’s better prepared for the future?

Yes, he’s getting better and better.

How do you support his coding endeavors?

We give him what he needs for that. We give him time because he has to focus on learning in school. We gave him time for that material.

What do you think of Tynker?

I think Tynker is good for kids. It helps them be creative.

Thank you!

We want to thank Sael and his mother for taking the time to speak with us about coding with Tynker. We can’t wait to see what he creates next – HAPPY CODING!
