Union County Public’s Focus on Coding Puts North Carolina Ahead

Jon Hidalgo has been teaching technology skills for 11 years at Monroe Middle School in Union County Public School District in Monroe, NC. He shares his experience with Tynker below:

Tynker is used in my classroom as an introductory coding tool to help students gain a footing with block coding. It is also used to help high-flying students excel via JavaScript and Python.

Tynker has greatly helped students with their confidence when it comes to programming. Students who struggle in other subjects will light up when they experience success on the Tynker coding system.

“Tynker helps students feel confident, and gives a success story to share with their fellow classmates.”

I would say Tynker is very important to schools’ Computer Science goals. As a health sciences academy, our school exists to help students function in a highly technical world. Computer Science plays a large role in that future.

Tynker helps students feel confident, and gives a success story to share with their fellow classmates.
